Kennebunk Artist’s Painting Adorns Texas Banner”
April 2010
When Kennebunk animal artist Carol Santora received an email from the Office of Dispute Resolution in Lubbock, TX, about interest in her art work, she thought at first it was a spoof email. However, after contacting one of the field representatives for Texas Rural Mediation Services, she was pleasantly surprised. The organization had reviewed ‘cow art’ over the web and chose Santora’s pastel cow painting “I’m in Love” to decorate their banner.
Santora and Field Representative II, Riki Hernandez, worked together on this project, setting up a contract and sponsorship between the Texas office and the artist. The Office of Dispute Resolution was appointed by the Governor in 2000 to be the sole certified agriculture mediation provider for the state of Texas. Their work takes them all over the state of Texas, where Santora’s art work will be viewed by thousands of people every year. Booths will be on display throughout different farm and ranch shows and many other conventions and conferences.
In addition the organization will be featuring Santora in an article for their quarterly newsletter and using the image in other advertising and printed materials.
A Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, Santora is best known for her vibrantly colored animal paintings and soulful pet portraits. In addition to her infamous cows, Santora paints horses, many from the Ever After Mustang Rescue in Biddeford. She has painted countless portraits of the canine locals and occasionally chooses sheep, moose, bear, and the exotic great cats as her subjects. Locally, the internationally-collected artist is represented by the Wright Gallery, Cape Porpoise, as well as other galleries around the state and in the West. She has been honored with numerous awards for excellence and teaches pastel at River Tree Arts in Kennebunk.
