My inspiration for "The Gathering"
photograph
Today I planned to paint out at Wolfe's Neck Farm, Freeport. I was one of the artists selected to do a painting for their 2008 Art Fest Silent Auction! The forecast for today and the rest of the week isn't good - rain and thunderstorms - but I went up there anyway. It was very overcast when I left Kennebunk at 8am, and when I got to Freeport it was very cloudy and misting. It was worth the drive to see their huge herd of cows, several different breeds, in lots of colors and ages, and their other farm animals! I shot 2 rolls of film plus 87 digital photos!

My plein air painting, The Gathering, was inspired by the huge welcome I recieved from the cows when they all gathered as I set up my easel beside their field and painted. A beautiful day indeed!

The silent auction and artists' reception is 6-8 PM at the Freeport Hilton Old Town Hall. This is your opportunity to preview and purchase works of art before the Art Fest offically opens on Saturday. Hors d'ouevres and cash bar. Limited attendance. Please call the Farm at 865-4469 to purchase your tickets.     Comments
